A Little Bit About Us:
Cyndy Burnett, owner of Framing
by Cyndy in Old Town Warrenton, Virginia, landed in Fairfax County in 1968
when her father, a US Army helicopter pilot, was assigned to the Pentagon,
she attended West Springfield High School and then went to Madison College
(now James Madison University) to become a teacher. She loved working in
the special education field and taught students with multiple handicaps
for a decade until becoming disillusioned as “the political game became
more important than teaching the children”
Cyndy moved to Fauquier County in 1984 and managed Old Town Handcrafts &
Collectibles for a year before heading to Ben Franklin to manage the
garden center. IN the winter she tried her hand in the store’s frame shop
where she found she had “a knack for design. After serving as the manager
of the frame shop at Ben Franklin and then as the manager of Framecraft in
Old Town Warrenton, Cyndy decided to chart her own path in 1997 and opened
Framing by Cyndy.
“We have the finest framing around” she says. “I’m finding people want the
best quality, they want their pictures to look great.” Cyndy and her staff
work with collections, frame flags and personal military items, and create
artistic designs for every customer.
Framing by Cyndy has also evolved into a boutique that features
handcrafted items by local artists and also handmade pieces from Egypt,
Germany, and Italy. The shop offers beaded shawls and handbags,
hand-painted sarongs, artwork from England, home-décor items, hand-knit
sweaters, jewelry, silk scarves, scarf clasps, and food products for
entertaining. Visitors to the shop can count on a cheerful greeting from
Noelle (the golden retriever) and Brit (the border collie who loves to
play ball).
